PubSub Concepts

PubSub Concepts, based in New York, is the leading provider of internet-scale Publish & Subscribe systems. In January, the company launched www.pubsub.com, a free service that instantly delivers new information that interests users as soon as it is published on the Web.
PubSub today monitors over 2.2 million RSS and Atom feeds, more than 50,000 internet newsgroups and all SEC (EDGAR) filings. Many new streams of information will be integrated and launched in the coming months.
PubSub utilizes a proprietary Matching Engine that matches new information events against stored queries (or subscriptions). The Matching Engine can perform over 3 billion matches per second - it is believed to be the fastest internet-scale engine of its kind.
Today's search engines perform what are called "retrospective searches". That is, they search for historical information that has been gathered in one place. PubSub performs "prospective searches" - the service first stores user queries and then precisely matches these queries against new information events as they're published. When new data matches a query, the user is instantly notified via RSS, email, and/or REST.
At BlogOn, PubSub is proud to announce the launch of its new website and Instant Data Messaging technology. The PubSub service now delivers alerts and RSS/Atom items instantly to users using a Jabber/XMPP Instant Messaging network. Client software and development libraries for the PubSub service, including source code, are available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pubsubxmpp/ for free download.
